Laughing Kookaburra

Laughing Kookaburra, Audobon Zoo, New Orleans, LA, 2007-Jul-21

Image 3 of the three day series. The Kookaburra, who seemed to be flying directly at me, apparently has great eyesight: he was actually aimed behind me and slightly left, having spotted this yummy treat from 10 feet away. It wasn’t all that bright out either, and the worm blended in with the ground cover (well, to me at least).

  1. Nah. The worm was just a cover (I’m certain you’re familiar with the idea of “feigning innocence”).

The Kookaburra quite definitely staged the whole thing for the amusement value of watching you topple over backwards. Kudos to that krazy Kookaburra on a job well done! :-)

  2. Alternatively, the return of the killer bees:

Batty babe bowled over by bad-ass bird.

  3. Thankfully there weren’t too many people there at the time, although they did seem to get a good laugh out of it. :)

Oh boy, the bees again… can’t top that one!

  4. Fearless fowl frightens feted photographer with fabulous feats of flamboyant flying.

  5. I meant I sure couldn’t but er, well, [em]you[/em] did!
