Finch pretending to be a hummingbird

This was a lucky shot, and one I love! This finch had to go back and forth from a sturdy branch to trying to mimic a hummingbird at the feeder. I’m not sure he ever did get much nectar out of that feeder, but he did manage to hover for a moment.

    That’s a bird with either one heck of a lot of determination, or else an identity crisis.

    :lol: There were a lot of hummingbirds in CA… maybe he was finch-mama-less?

    Yeah, I had lots going on and not a lot of motivation for updating. I’m glad you like the photos!
