I’ve seen a lot of stuff about “clean” eating, as I’ve been reading about weightlifting and fitness. Most of it, of course, geared toward meat eaters, the old “gotta have loads of protein to build muscle” idea. I’m not sure I believe you need that much protein (some of these diets are 35% or more!); after all, human mother’s milk is about6% protein - and when are you gonna grow any more intensely than then? In any case, it does seem logical to reduce your intake of simple carbohydrates. As far as I can tell, there isn’t much of a biological need to eat refined sugar or chocolate, no matter how much my body may say differently at that “time of the month”; the body can make all it needs digesting complex carbs. Plus, in looking for some medical history (I’m adopted), I did find that diabetes runs in the family.

Sure, diabetes runs in lots of families…. but why invite it? Anyone who knows me knows I love dessert - but I hate needles more! *lol* So, with overall health in mind as well as physique changes, I have been slowly reducing the sugars and white flours in my diet. This past month I even tried not having any sugar (well, refined - I’m not limiting any naturally occurring sugars like fruit; I’d go totally insane), but a trip to visit the in-laws threw me off track. I did make it nearly three weeks though, before that.

In any case, I’m trying again! Starting today, no refined sugar or white flours for a month. I’m looking forward to seeing some changes - more energy? Firmer muscles? Who knows!
